Men's Breakfast and Bible StudyJoin the Men of the Church every Tuesday morning at 6:45am for the best home-cooked breakfast in town! Presbyterian Women CirclesOur PW Circles use the PC(USA) Horizon Bible Studies. The Circles meet monthly. We have a variety of meeting times and locations to choose from.Contact:Linda Murphey at 736-4795
Disciple One: Becoming Disciples Through Bible StudyLocation: Room S-212 (Inquirer's Class)An intentional, high-commitment intensive adult Bible study program. The study is 34 weeks long. It is made up of small groups. The plan requires weekly Scripture reading and reflection as homework, as well as group discussion during a 2-hour class meeting each week. Groups will move through the biblical stories of Creation to the New Jerusalem. The titles of the sessions, along with theme words, theme verses, and major persons, events, and topics will set the sequence of the biblical story in the minds of the participants. The principal Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story. Classes begin the week of August 23. Two classes will be offered:Monday mornings, 9:30-11:30am(Facilitated by Travis Webster)Tuesday evenings, 7:00-9:00pm(Facilitated by Jim Rowell)Classes began in August; keep an eye out as next year's classes are planned!
Disciple II: Into the Word Into the WorldLocation: Room S-211 (LIFE)Disciple II encourages persons to open themselves to hearing what God has to say to them through the Bible and to be guided into service in the world by Scripture and their study of it. This thirty-two-week study selects specific portions of Scripture and delves deeper into them. Depth study of Scripture will be the work both of individual members and of the group in its weekly meeting. Equal attention is given to both the Old and New Testament with concentration on four books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts (eight lessons on each book). Disciple II is a follow-up to Disciple I, and requires the completion of Disciple I to enroll. Classes begin the week of August 23 (with the exception of the Wednesday class, which begins September 2). Three classes are scheduled:Tuesday evenings, 7:00 - 9:00pm(Facilitated by Ginny Hutchison and Natalie O?Bradovich)Wednesday mornings, 9:00 - 11:00am(Facilitated by Lydia Clary)Thursday evenings, 7:00 - 9:00pm(Facilitated by Mary and Paul Rogers)Classes began in August; keep an eye out as next year's classes are planned!
Christian BelieverLocation:Room S-212 (Inquirer's Class)Christian Believer is a thirty-week study of the classical doctrines of the Christian faith. It aims at presenting, explaining, and interpreting Christian doctrine as the basic teaching of the church to the end that informed believing leads to committed discipleship. This class is a follow-up to Disciple One, and requires the completion of Disciple One to enroll. Classes begin the week of September. One class is offered. Friday Morning Women's Bible StudyLocation:Room S-212 (Inquirer's Class)The Friday Morning Bible Study will begin on March 5 and run through March 26. The group will study Pursuing More of Jesus by Anne Graham Lotz. The group meets each Friday morning, 9:30am till 11:30am, in the Inquirer's Class. High School Girls' Bible StudyLocation:To be determinedThis Bible study focuses on the issues facing today's young women. It meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm during the school year. Contact:Jodi Beckham (790-2095) and Chris Peters (787-5672).Financial Peace University:Location:TBAFPU is the most important step to changing your financial future. It takes the knowledge from God and turns it into real action in our lives through a step-by-step process taught by best-selling author and financial counselor Dave Ramsey. The series takes participants through 13 weeks of video lessons and discussion groups that will change the way they think about personal finance. The videos cover practical steps to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, set financial goals and celebrate the joy of giving. In the 91 days between the first and last class, the average family pays off $5300 in debt and saves $2700. FPU is for EVERYONE, from the financially secure to the financially distressed. Class begins on February 25, and ends on May 27. FPU membership (per person or couple) costs $93, which includes the 13 classes, Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace book, the class workbook, audio CDs of each video presentation, the FPU envelope budgeting system, budgeting forms and access to on-line forums, budgeting software and other money tools.
